Delhi Family of Five, Including Four Specially-abled Daughters, Found Dead

National Desk, 28th September: A tragic incident unfolded in Delhi’s Rangpuri village, where a family of five, including four specially-abled daughters, was found dead in their apartment, in what police suspect to be a case of mass suicide involving the ingestion of a poisonous substance. The grim discovery was made after concerned neighbors reported a foul smell coming from the residence, prompting authorities to force entry on Friday morning.

Inside the apartment, police found the lifeless bodies of the father, a carpenter, and his daughters, aged between 8 and 18. The father was found in the living room, while his daughters, who reportedly had physical disabilities, were discovered in other parts of the house. Early investigations suggest that the father may have poisoned his daughters before taking his own life.

The family’s situation had been particularly challenging following the death of the mother from cancer a few years ago, leaving the father as the sole caregiver for the four daughters.

Forensic teams are examining the scene, and the bodies have been sent for post-mortem examinations to confirm the cause of death. Authorities are also investigating potential triggers, focusing on the immense emotional and financial pressures the father may have been facing. The tragic incident has left the local community in shock, highlighting the need for more robust mental health and social support systems, particularly for families in vulnerable situations.
