Delhi govt imposes Rs 500 fine for not wearing masks
Guwahati: In view of a spike in coronavirus cases in the national capital, the Delhi government on Wednesday decided to make the wearing of masks mandatory again in public places and impose a fine of Rs 500 in case of a violation.
However, the fine will not be applicable to persons travelling together in private four-wheeler vehicles.
The Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) in a meeting on Wednesday, noticed that the rate of Covid-19 infection positive has been rising in the city over the last fortnight and resolved to impose a punishment for not wearing a face mask/cover in all public venues in Delhi.
This directive comes as the number of coronavirus cases in the nation’s capital continues to rise. On Thursday, 965 new Covid cases were reported in Delhi, with a 4.71 percent positive rate, and one person died as a result of the infection. On Wednesday, there were 1,009 people, 632 on Tuesday, and 501 on Monday
