Delhi High Court Refuses to Hear PIL Seeking Arvind Kejriwal’s Removal as CM

National Desk, 4th April: The Delhi High Court has declined to entertain yet another Public Interest Litigation (PIL) seeking the removal of Arvind Kejriwal from his position as the Chief Minister of Delhi. During the hearing, the court made oral observations, emphasizing the precedence of national interest over personal interests.

This decision comes after the Delhi High Court had previously dismissed a similar PIL on March 28. The petitioner, Surjit Singh Yadav, a Delhi resident claiming to be a farmer and social worker, had filed the plea.

Yadav argued that a Chief Minister implicated in a financial scandal should not be allowed to continue holding public office. Kejriwal, currently under arrest by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in connection with the liquor policy case, remains in ED custody, with his custody scheduled to end today. He is expected to appear before the Rouse Avenue Courts in the city later today.

In the PIL, Yadav asserted that Kejriwal’s continuation in office could obstruct the due process of law, undermine justice, and potentially lead to a breakdown of the constitutional machinery. However, the Delhi High Court declined to entertain the plea, maintaining its stance on the matter.
