Delhi High Court to Decide on Arvind Kejriwal’s Bail in Money Laundering Case

National Desk, 25th June: The Delhi High Court is set to deliver its verdict on June 25 regarding the Enforcement Directorate’s plea to stay a lower court’s decision granting bail to Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in a money laundering case linked to the scrapped liquor policy.

The order is expected at 2:30 pm today. The High Court’s decision follows a reserved order by a vacation bench led by Justice Sudhir Kumar Jain on June 21, prompted by the ED’s challenge against the lower court’s bail decision for Kejriwal. Initially, the High Court had temporarily paused the bail granted to Kejriwal upon the agency’s plea and scheduled the final order for June 25.

The Enforcement Directorate argued that the trial court’s decision was flawed and biased, alleging that it failed to consider substantial evidence implicating Kejriwal in the liquor policy case. In response, Kejriwal denounced these claims as misleading and a misrepresentation of facts.

Previously, on June 20, the lower court had granted bail to Kejriwal, who was arrested by the ED on March 21. The bail conditions included a personal bond of Rs 1 lakh and strict directives to refrain from interfering with the investigation or influencing witnesses.

The outcome of today’s High Court decision will determine whether Kejriwal remains in Tihar Jail or is released following the ED’s challenge against his bail.
