An earlier account of the horrible Kanjhawala tragedy was given by an eyewitness.

In the village of Ladpur, Deepak Dahiya owns a confectionery store on Kanjhawala Road. He claimed that the accused dragged the girl’s body, which became tangled under their car, for approximately 1.5 hours and 18 to 20 kilometres.

“It was 3:20 am…I was standing outside the shop when I heard a loud noise from a vehicle about 100 meters away. Earlier I thought it was a tire burst. As soon as the car moved, I saw a body being dragged. I informed the police immediately,” Dahiya had told ANI.

After some time, he claimed about 3:30 am, the car made a U-turn with the woman’s lifeless corpse still below. According to Dahiya, the accused frequently made u-turns on a route that was around 4-5 kilometres long.

“I tried to stop them many times but they did not stop the vehicle. For about one and a half hours they carried the girl’s body for about 20 km,’ he had said.

According to Dahiya, he also pursued the automobile on his bike while speaking to the police.

On the Kanjhawala Road, close to Jyoti village, the body fell from the car after approximately an hour and a half, and the accused then escaped, he had added.

“It could not be just an accident,” Dahiya further stressed.

The police reported on Sunday that a 20-year-old woman died after being struck by a car and then dragged along the road for a few kilometres while becoming entangled in the wheels.

The girl was in such horrible shape following the event, according to the authorities, that as she was being carried along, her clothes and even the rear of her body were torn off.
