National desk, 30 June: Metro users in Delhi will soon be able to carry sealed bottles of alcohol on all routes, matching the options presently offered on the Airport Express Line.
Two sealed bottles of alcohol are now permitted to be transported on the Delhi Metro, according to a statement from the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC).
The directive was examined after a committee comprising of representatives from the DMRC and the Central Industrial Security Force (the force responsible for guarding metro facilities) reviewed the earlier order. Alcohol was not permitted on the metro with the exception of the Airport Express Line, as per a previous rule.
“Metro passengers are requested to maintain proper decorum while traveling. In case, any passenger is found behaving in an indecent manner under the influence of alcohol, suitable action shall be taken under the relevant provisions of law,” the DMRC release said.
