Deputy CM’s Constituency BJP office Holders Tenders Resignation In Nagaland

Guwahati: Political party leaders and members have started switching parties as the state gets ready for the next state assembly elections. In the most recent development, six BJP members from Nagaland submitted their resignations on January 20 due to internal conflicts.

Forwarding their resignations, the 6 senior members of the state BJP mentioned in their letter to the state party head stating, “There is a huge wave of change of leadership pertaining to democratic representation from 37 Tyui A/C to the Nagaland Legislative Assembly. The 37 Tyui A/C electorate are of the strong conviction that fifteen (15) years of representation by the same person is enough to recognize one’s ability of representation and therefore, the necessity for change”.

The six BJP members who have tendered their resignations are – P. Renbenthung Lotha, President, BJP 37 Tyui, A/C Mandal, Nzunyimo Ngullie, Vice President, BJP 37 Tyui A/C Mandal, Zulamo Ngullie, Secretary, BJP 37 Tyui A/C Mandal, Thungbeni Ezung, Executive Member, BJP 37 Tyui A/C Mandal, Nzamo Ngullie, Executive Member, BJP 37 Tyui A/C Mandal.

It needs to be noted that the aforementioned resigned BJP members served as Y Patton, the deputy chief minister of Nagalandtop ,’s elected officials in his constituency.

With immediate effect, the Commissioner of Police and District Magistrate Kevithuto Sophie has made it illegal for anyone to possess weapons in the districts of Dimapur, Chumoukedima, and Niuland as the state gets ready for the upcoming assembly elections. This decision was made using the authority granted to them under Section 144A of the Criminal Procedure Code.

This decision was taken when the state’s assembly elections were given dates. A prohibition order was also issued by the Dimapur Police to guarantee that there are no unfavourable situations when the elections are being conducted.

The district magistrate further ordered that everyone who holds an arms licence in the districts of Dimapur, Chumoukedima, and Niuland must leave their weapons at the closest police station by no later than February 10.

The Election Commission of India said on Wednesday that voting for the Nagaland Assembly Election 2023 will take place on February 27, 2023, and results will be declared on March 2. Beside Nagaland, poll schedules of Tripura and Meghalaya were also announced.
