Desperate Mother Pleads for Son’s Return Amidst Growing Public Outcry in Manipur
Imphal: A wave of anguish and fervent appeals swept through Keishampat as residents staged a sit-in protest, demanding the immediate location of 20-year-old Luwangthem Mukesh, who vanished without a trace from Keishampat Leimajam Leikai.
The protest underscored the rising anxiety and desperation gripping the community, seeking answers and swift action from the authorities.
The demonstration escalated into a determined march towards the Chief Secretary’s office, where a formal memorandum was presented. The document implored the government to prioritize the search for the missing youth, emphasizing the urgent need for intervention. This move highlighted the community’s resolve to ensure that the authorities acknowledge and act upon their concerns.
Activist Thokchom Sujata, a prominent voice in the protest, articulated the pressing need for governmental intervention, particularly in light of Manipur’s current state under President’s Rule and the substantial security presence. She urged the immediate deployment of security forces to aid in the search, reflecting the community’s belief that a coordinated effort is crucial for Mukesh’s safe return.
Amidst the growing crowd, Mukesh’s mother’s heart-wrenching plea resonated deeply, her voice trembling as she folded her hands in supplication. She begged the authorities to find her son, her words painting a stark picture of her despair and reliance on her only child.
“My son is the only hope of my life. We are the only two family members. There is no point in living if he doesn’t come back. Please, concerned authorities, help me find him,” she implored, her words echoing the profound grief of a mother facing the unknown.
She recounted the last moments she shared with Mukesh, noting that he left their home on March 16, 2025, at approximately 2 PM, assuring her he would not venture far. Her attempt to contact him at 3:30 PM resulted in a busy signal, and by 6:30 PM, his phone was switched off, deepening her fears.
The last confirmed sighting of Mukesh was captured on CCTV footage, placing him in Chinikhul, Bishnupur district. He was seen crossing Nambol Police Station at 3:16 PM and Bishnupur Bazaar at 3:40 PM, providing a crucial timeline for investigators.
Following the filing of a missing person complaint at Imphal Police Station on March 16, 2025, an official inquiry has been initiated. The Police Department and Security Forces have since commenced extensive search operations across all suspected areas, demonstrating their commitment to tracing Mukesh’s whereabouts.
