DGCA Imposes Penalty on Air Asia
Guwahati: The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) fined Air Asia Rs 20 lakhs for violating the relevant DGCA Civil Aviation Requirements.
According to the low-cost airline, some mandatory exercises for Air Asia pilots were not completed during the scheduled Pilot Proficiency Check.
According to reports, the DGCA has removed Air Asia’s head of training from his position for three months and fined eight of the airline’s designated examiners Rs 3 lakhs apiece for failing to perform their duties in accordance with the relevant DGCA Civil Aviation standards.
The total amount of the fines is Rs 44 lakhs.
“Financial Penalty of Rs 20 lakh has been imposed for violation of applicable DGCA civil aviation requirements (CARs or rules). Withdrawal of Head of Training from his position for three months for failing to discharge his duties as per applicable CARs. Financial penalty of Rs 3 lakh on each of the eight designated examiners Ltd for failing to discharge their duties as per applicable CARs,” a statement from the DGCA said.
