DGP Rajiv Singh Assesses Law and Order in Manipur’s Troubled Districts

Imphal: In a significant move aimed at addressing the persistent tensions in Manipur, Director General of Police (DGP) Rajiv Singh undertook a crucial review of the law and order situation in Bishnupur and Churachandpur districts on July 18. The visit, as per an official statement, saw the state police chief engaging in extensive meetings with key personnel on the ground.

During his visit, the DGP convened detailed discussions with officers from both the district police and various central armed police forces. These sessions were designed to take stock of the prevailing ground realities and strategise for enhanced security measures in the sensitive regions.

Beyond the formal review, DGP Singh also personally interacted with the officers, a gesture aimed at bolstering the morale of the forces who have been working tirelessly amidst challenging circumstances. The police statement underscored that this visit reaffirms the enduring commitment to security, fostering better coordination among different units, and acknowledging the selfless dedication of police personnel in their service and duty.

The comprehensive meetings covered a wide range of participants, including District Police Officers, personnel from Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs), Manipur Police Service (MPS) probationers in Churachandpur, Officers-in-Charge (OCs), including Commando personnel, and women police personnel, ensuring a holistic understanding of the operational landscape.

The visit concluded on a positive note in Bishnupur District with a felicitation ceremony, where the DGP Disc and Commendation were presented to deserving officers, recognising their exemplary service and contributions to maintaining peace and order.
