DGP Rajiv Singh Rallies Frontline Police, Assesses Security in Manipur’s Border and Valley Districts

IMPHAL: Manipur’s Director General of Police, Rajiv Singh, has undertaken a comprehensive tour of Tengnoupal and Thoubal districts, engaging with frontline police personnel and reviewing the security landscape in the state.

The visit, described by officials as an effort to boost morale and reinforce security coordination, saw the DGP interact with a wide range of stakeholders, from commando units to local community leaders.

In the border town of Moreh, Singh addressed police and commando personnel, encouraging them to remain motivated in their challenging duties. He also took the opportunity to meet with community-based organisations, before moving to Tengnoupal Police Station and the district headquarters. Here, he commended the force for their unwavering efforts in maintaining peace and actively combating the pervasive issue of drug trafficking.

The discussions further extended to a meeting with officials from the Assam Rifles, where the focus was on the security situation in the border district, particularly the ongoing measures related to border fencing.

The security assessment continued in Thoubal, where the state police chief convened a meeting with senior district officers, including officers-in-charge of various police stations. The agenda included a thorough review of ongoing law and order challenges, the progress of case investigations, and the effectiveness of anti-drug operations.

The visit underscores the state police leadership’s commitment to a hands-on approach in managing the complex security environment, while also acknowledging the tireless efforts of personnel working in demanding conditions.

Simultaneously, security forces have maintained a high tempo of operations across the state. Search operations and area domination patrols were conducted in vulnerable fringe areas of various districts. Furthermore, a crucial logistical effort was undertaken as 130 vehicles transporting essential commodities were provided safe passage along National Highway-37.

This movement was facilitated under strict security cover, with dedicated convoys deployed in sensitive stretches to ensure unhindered transit. In a parallel development, routine enforcement duties saw the establishment of 115 checkpoints across both hill and valley districts, during which police detained one person.
