Dhubri Boat Capsize: 2 Saved, 10 Still Missing As Rescue Operations Continue
Guwahati: The boat tragedy that happened earlier on Thursday on the Brahmaputra River close to Dhubri in Assam has left at least nine to ten people missing.
The incident happened when a boat carrying passengers lost control in the Brahmaputra due to the strong currents.
SDRF teams were dispatched to the area and later saved two persons after the event.
There were reportedly 29 passengers on the boat at the time of the disaster. A government employee was aboard the boat, according to the state’s emergency management agency.
Officials said that a circle officer, identified as Sanju Das. He was on the boat along with other officials and townspeople.
Four victims of the incident were sent urgently to the Dhubri civil hospital.
Those injured were identified as Victor Saha, Baby Begum, Ayanal Haque and Abdus Salam Sheikh.
Two teachers are also missing as a result of the incident. They have been identified as Hassen Ali and Hussain Ali.
The SDRF has informed that rescue efforts are under way.
