Divide Assam 50:50 demand raised by new Bodo Org

Guwahati: In what can be a new obstruction into the peace process of the Bodoland Territorial Region, a new militant organization was reported to have been formed which is now demanding a separate state.

The new outfit has released a video where one of the members has claimed that the name of the outfit is United Liberation For Bodoland (ULB).

The organization in a statement said that ULB is an arms struggle organization for the creation of a separate state Bodoland.

“We Bodo are indigenous people of Pragjyotishpur or Kamarupa kingdom which is presently known as Assam. But other people have been threatening us on the various sides like in language, cultural, religion, social, economic, political, educational, etc. and it has happened after the end of Bodo kingdom and since then Bodo people have been struggling for a separate Homeland by which we can live in freedom in the world. We Bodos are also want to live with honor and dignity like other communities and people are living”, the statement added.

The outfit further demanded the creation of a separate Bodoland and has also asked the Government of India and Government of Assam to divide Assam in a ratio of 50:50.

They claimed that the land was theirs (the Bodos).

It may be mentioned that in the past few months, all organizations which were like with the Bodoland arms struggle had come down to the peace process as the government had assured them about a proper solution to their demands. But, this new organization has now hinted that there might be a new obstruction in the process.
