DMK MP Expresses Regret and Apologizes for Controversial Remarks on Hindi Heartland States

National Desk, 6th December: DMK MP DNV Senthil Kumar, who stirred controversy with his comments on Hindi heartland states in the Lok Sabha, has expressed regret and issued an apology.

On Tuesday, Kumar criticized the BJP’s electoral success in Hindi heartland states, stating, “The power of the BJP is in winning elections mainly in Hindi heartland states. You cannot come to South India.”

His remarks triggered criticism, and he later acknowledged that he had “inadvertently” made the comments.

In a statement, Kumar apologized, requesting the words to be expunged and expressing regret if they hurt sentiments.

Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla expunged Kumar’s remarks from the House records. The controversy emerged amid debates on the north-south divide following the recent state assembly poll results.

The BJP won in three Hindi heartland states, while the Congress secured victory in Telangana. Kumar’s apology came through social media, where he clarified that he used a term inappropriately and apologized for any misunderstanding.
