Dozens Detained in Assam’s Lakhimpur District After Attack on Police

Guwahati, 7th September: As many as 50 individuals were detained in Assam’s Lakhimpur district on Thursday morning following an attack on police personnel. The incident occurred when police were apprehending a drug peddler, Saddam Hussain, in Ahmedpur village, Bihpuria.

After successfully apprehending the drug peddler, unidentified individuals physically assaulted the police officers, securing Hussain’s release. This attack resulted in injuries to several police personnel, and even Hussain’s pregnant wife, Wahida Begum, sustained injuries.

In response, a significant police operation was launched in the area where the attack took place, supervised by Superintendent of Police (SP) Anand Mishra. This operation led to the detention of approximately 50 individuals in connection with the incident.

Investigations will continue to ascertain the identities and motives of those involved in the attack on the police officers and the subsequent release of the drug peddler.
