Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Satellite Launch Vehicle Mission 2023 launched from Tamil Nadu
Guwahati: The APJ Abdul Kalam Satellite Launch Vehicle Mission 2023 began on Sunday (February 19) with the launch of a rocket carrying 150 student-built satellites from various states.
The event was introduced by Telangana Governor Tamilsai Soundararajan in the village of Pattipolam in the Chengalpattu district of Tamil Nadu.
The Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam International Foundation, in collaboration with the Martin Foundation and Space Zone of India Pvt Ltd, reportedly organised the rocket launch.
More than 5,000 students from all throughout the country worked on the design and development of 150 PICO satellites for this project. In total, 2,000 students from more than 100 government schools are involved in this rocket project.
The selected students received virtual training on satellite technology, which were followed by practical workshops where they could learn more about the project’s subject. According to a statement, they were also informed of the many benefits this profession provides.
It was claimed that this will provide government school pupils with an excellent opportunity to study about space sciences and give them a setting in which to think about a career in that sector.
