Dr Bhupen Hazarika Samadhi Kshetra in Guwahati Closed Following Death of Youth
Guwahati: Following an accident last night that claimed one life, visitors entry to the Dr. Bhupen Hazarika Samadhi Kshetra in Guwahati’s Jalukbari has been suspended.
After a young person died in an accident on campus yesterday, the memorial location was reportedly blocked to visitors on Thursday.
The young man, so far as is known, was electrocuted when he came into contact with the water of the fountain that was built inside the Samadhi Kshetra.
Yesterday when the event occurred, the young man and his family had travelled to the Dr. Bhupen Hazarika Samadhi Kshetra.
Shubham Rai, a resident of BBC colony in Guwahati’s Pandu district, was named as the deceased. He allegedly put his hands in the fountain’s water before being electrocuted to death.
He was transported to Swagat Hospital in the Maligaon region from the adjacent Government Ayurvedic College and Hospital shortly after the incident. Doctors tried to save him, but he died from his wounds.
