Drinks to Beat the Scorching Heat

Guwahati: It is important to stay hydrated to keep the body cool during summers or hot days. So we have to drink plenty of water to keep our body hydrated. If you don’t like drinking water again and again you can also drink juice.

Here are some of the drinks to beat the scorching heat:

  • Aam Panna: It is one of the most popular Indian drink that is both refreshing and energizing. It gives a much needed relief that one’s need nin this summer. It is made up of mango pulp, cumin and mint leaves.
  • Iced Jaljeera: Amid the summer season where the temperature is already at its peak, the iced Jaljeera which is filled with flavor can serve cold instantly to cool you off.
  • Sattu Sharbat: It is famous in Bihar and is well known for its cooling qualities and it has own variations in states like Uttar Pradesh, Punjab and Madhya Pradesh. Sattu Sharbat is made up of Sattu and is one of the delicious summertime treats.
  • Mango Lassi: Mango Lassi is a delicious and refreshing drink. It is made with fresh yogurt or curd, milk, sweet mango slices as well as a hint of cinnamon and optionally ground cardamom powder.
  • Barley Water: It is a beverage that our ancestors used in their daily diet. Barley water is an antiquated remedy and is also good for health. Barley is a powder grain that has long been used to prepare cereals, serve as substitute for rice and prepare other delicacies that are distinctive to different regional cuisines.
  • Thandai: It is a good option to stay hyderated throughout the summer. The milk is typically flavoured with rose petals, almonds, fennel seeds, poppy seeds, watermelon kernels, cardamom sugar and saffron.
  • Buttermilk (Chaas): Chaas is widely consumed in northern and eastern India. One can find many varieties, traditional to enjoy during the summer. Masala Chaas, cucumber chaas, beetroot chaas are the other version of buttermilk drink.
  • Kanji: Kanji is a water-based drink traditionally made using carrots, mustard and salt. Kanji is also considered as Holi drink. However, this drink is loaded with great digestive aid, as it has probiotic properties.
