Guwahati: One suspected drug peddler has been injured in an encounter with the police in Nagaon district of Assam.
The accused has been identified as Nurjamal.
The incident took place in the Telia Bebejia field under Juria police station of the district.
As per the reports of My News NE, the accused allegedly assaulted police officers with a machete.
Nurjamal was shot on his right hand by the Police and were shifted to Bhogeswari Phukanani Civil Hospital for treatment.
Police officials informed that while getting drugs from Nurjamal, a youth has also died.
Meanwhile, the police officials also seized huge quantity of suspected heroine and cash from his possession.
