Drugs Worth Rs 15 Lakhs Seized in Tinsukia, 5 Arrested
Guwahati, 28 May: In the ongoing war against drugs, Assam Police led an operation and recovered 75.24 gms of heroin as part of a huge crackdown on illegal drug trafficking in Tinsukia district of Assam on May 27.
The drug operation was led by ASP Crime Moidul Islam and OC Tinsukia Police Station Parag Jyoti Buragohain raided several locations accross the district.
As per reports, Utpal Barua was found to be in possession of 3.23 gms of heroin during the initial raid at Bordoloi Nagar.
Manoj Mallick’s home on Parbatiya Road was raided and 65.21 gms of heroin was recovered from their home. He was arrested along with his wife Pushpa Mallick for having illegal narcotics in his possession. Additionally, during the search operation three mobile phones, an e-rickshaw and a Swift Dezire vehicle were all seized.
Reportedly, 6.8 gms of heroin were seized from the scooty of Balram Roy’s in Udyog Nagar, at Makum Road Ward No. 4 near Guru Nanak workshop and two cell phones were also seized.
In total 75.24 gms of heroin were seized during the entire operation and 5 people were arrested
