Drugs Worth Rs 5 crore Seized in Manipur’s Bishnupur

Guwahati: A team from the Imphal Customs Division’s Anti-Smuggling section recovered a large amount of WY tablets on March 10 that weighed 5.38 kilogrammes and were believed to be worth more than Rs 5 crore on the international market .

A 32-year-old male was found in possession of the shipment close to Kwakta Bazar in Bishnupur.

Hemminlal Touthang s/o Doukholun Touthang, of Aigejang village, Khamenlok, Pangei Yangdong, Senapati was in possession of 54,400 WY tablets.

According to information from the Deputy Commissioner of the Customs Division in Imphal, Hemminlal Touthang’s Honda Activa 6G that he used to transport the illegal drugs was also confiscated.

In addition to the drugs being seized it also claimed that Hemminlal Touthang had been arrested.

On the other hand, a team of police from Kakching and Pallel arrested two women and found illegal drugs on March 11 at around 1.25 p.m.

While searching a pan shop in Khudei Khunou Part-II, Chandel, the combined squad discovered 22.770 kilogrammes of opium seeds from two women, 377 grammes of WY tablets and 38 grammes of opium concealed in a Khaini packet.

The two women identified as JB Shangam (29), wife of Ashok Lamkang of Vitu village who is currently residing at Khudei Khunou Part-II and NL Shangwar (29), alias Thangsang Anal of Chandel were taken into custody immediately and taken along with the items that had been seized to the Chandel police station.
