Drunk & Drive: 95 more intercepted, total 295
Guwahati: In a drive against drunk driving by the traffic police department, at least 95 people were intercepted for driving their vehicle in a drunken state last night in Guwahati. Their driving licenses were also suspended.
A penalty of Rs 10000 was also imposed by the officials. Till now a total of 295 persons have been booked by Guwahati Police
The news was shared by the Guwahati Traffic Department on their official Twitter account.
To guarantee that no accidents occur during the New Year, the traffic police announced early on Friday that they will be on high alert to track down intoxicated drivers in the city.
According to traffic police authorities, they devised a comprehensive plan to prevent accidents in the city around the New Year.
Special procedures and actions are being made to prevent cases of reckless driving and over speeding.
The police department has been asked by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma to ensure that no accidents occur during the New Year celebrations.
Last night, 95 persons were hauled up for drunk driving. Their licences are being suspended & a Fine of ₹10,000/- imposed on them.
