Guwahati: A massive road accident has taken place at Beltola in Guwahati on Wednesday which involved a speeding four-wheeler vehicle.
The accident took place late last night.
The vehicle involved in the incident was identified as a Mahindra Thar.
According to reports, a Mahindra Thar vehicle which was coming in at great speed, rammed into a divider causing the accident.
Locals who witnessed the incident claim that the car was coming at great speed when it abruptly lost control and struck the divider.
Additionally, they claimed that the car’s driver was intoxicated. The car’s registration number is AS 01 FA 0002.
There were no fatalities or injuries reported in the incident.
After learning of the collision, a police team hastened to the spot. The accused apparently attempted to flee the area after they arrived, despite being instructed to stop.
However, police managed to detain him and take him into custody. He was later identified as Mithu Agarwala.
In addition, officials informed that they recovered a pistol from the vehicle. The firearm did however have proper registration and was not illegal, they added.
