Guwahati: A group of youth attacked a police officer in Charaideo district of Assam, leaving him injured during the wee hours of Thursday.
According to reports, the injured officer has been identified as SI Leela Phukan of the Sonari Police.
The incident took place at the Raas Mahotsav in Kakotibari and Phukan was injured when youth took advantage of the darkness to attack him while he was under the influence of alcohol.
Reportedly, they left the area after the attack.
The police officers were taken immediately to the hospital.
Meanwhile, the police have launched a search operation to find the suspected youths.
