Guwahati: The university hostel at Dibrugarh University appointed a new chief warden on Tuesday.
The new appointed warden has been identified as Dr Diganta Bhuyan who replaced Dr Kalyan Bhuyan.
The university fired Dr. Kalyan Bhuyan in response to Arnab Sharma’s ragging case.
The chief warden and other wardens of the university dorms were strongly criticised by the All Assam Students’ Union in relation to the ragging event.
Notably, a university student had to leap from a two-story structure the previous year to avoid being raped by seniors on the grounds of the dormitory.
It was established that the victim had informed about the ragging case to the authorities however, upon no action taken against the accused, Arnab jumped off the building.
The police rusticated a number of pupils and arrested a smaller number in connection with the incident.
