A tragic road accident unfolded late last night in Guwahati, leaving two individuals battling serious injuries. The incident occurred in the Sundarpur area on Zoo Road, right in front of the Bharat Petroleum filling station, sending shockwaves through the locality.
The collision involved a recklessly driven dumper, bearing the registration number AS01HC8730, and a scooter, identified by its registration AS17R1123. Eyewitness accounts suggest the scooter had just completed refuelling at the petrol pump and was in the process of moving onto the main road when the high-speed dumper crashed into it.
In a callous act, the driver of the dumper reportedly fled the accident site immediately after the impact, failing to provide any aid to the injured victims. Responding swiftly to the emergency call, officials from the Dispur Traffic Police reached the scene without delay.
The injured individuals were promptly transported to the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) for urgent medical attention. Sources at the hospital indicate that the condition of one of the injured is extremely critical, raising serious concerns about their well-being.
