Durga Puja Festivities Grip, Maha Shashti Today In Assam

Guwahati: The entire region is in a festive mood as Durga Puja celebrations started on Saturday.

The celebration officially begins on “Maha Shashti.”

After two years of the Covid-19 epidemic, Assam is experiencing a fervour for Durga Puja with pandals decorated with fascinating themes and exquisite ornamentation.

The Bengali people in India and around the world, as well as those living in eastern states like West Bengal, Odisha, Jharkhand, Bihar, and Assam, celebrate Durga Puja, an annual Hindu festival honouring Goddess Durga.

Durga Puja is now an integral part of Indian culture, with many individuals celebrating it in their own distinctive manner while adhering to tradition.

According to Hindu mythology, the goddess visits her home on earth at this season to bestow blessings on her followers. Durga Puja is the major celebration in the Bengali culture.
