Dy CM Jishnu Dev Varma casts his vote in Agartala

Guwahati: Tripura Deputy CM Jishnu Dev Varma voted on February 16 at the Prafulla Chandra School polling station in Agartala.

Jishnu Dev Varma is running for the state Assembly from the Charilam seat.

Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha, deputy speaker Biswa Bandhu Sen and BJP candidate from Banamalipur Rajiv Bhattacharjee were among the first to cast their votes among the top leaders.

Voting for the 60 Assembly constituencies started at 7 am on February 16. There are 259 candidates overall, 20 of whom are female. The counting of votes will be done on March 2.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on February 16 urged Tripura’s youth to vote in the state Assembly election of 2023.

Moreover, he urged the citizens of Tripura to cast their ballots in record numbers to support the democratic celebration.

”Urging the people of Tripura to vote in record numbers and strengthen the festival of democracy. I especially call upon the youth to exercise their franchise,” PM Modi tweeted.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah also urged the people of Tripura to vote in order to guarantee the election of a development-focused administration.

“Urging our sisters and brothers of Tripura to cast their vote to ensure that a development-oriented government is formed and the era of peace and progress that has already started continues smoothly,” he wrote on Twitter.

According to the Election Commission, there are about 28.14 lakh eligible voters, including 14,15,233 male voters, 13,99,289 female voters, and 62 third-party voters. Vote tallying has begun at 3,337 polling locations.

Adequate security measures have been put in place for the elections. In the state, there are 97 police stations that are all managed by women. There are 6,21,505 voters aged 22 to 29 and 94,815 voters between the ages of 18 and 19. The 40-59 age bracket is the one with the most registered voters (9,81,089 total votes).
