Eaglenest Butterfly Festival 2024 Celebrates Biodiversity in Arunachal Pradesh’s West Kameng District
The inaugural Eaglenest Butterfly Festival 2024 launched with vibrant energy in Doimara, West Kameng district, Arunachal Pradesh, bringing together nature enthusiasts, conservationists, and community members in a three-day celebration of biodiversity. Organized by Nature’s Friendship Rupa and Mahila Shakti Kendra of Balipara, with backing from the state’s Department of Tourism and Department of Environment, Forest & Climate Change, the event spotlighted butterflies as crucial contributors to ecological balance.
The festival offered participants a deep dive into the local ecosystem, with guided butterfly and bird walks across Doimara and Khellong. Attendees explored the role of butterflies in pollination and environmental health, engaging in insightful sessions on butterfly conservation and ecological harmony.
The event was inaugurated by former minister D.K. Thongdok as the Chief Guest, with IFS Conservator of Forests Millo Tassar as the Guest of Honour, and Tracy Thongdok, the District Tourism Officer for West Kameng, in attendance. Stakeholders from Tezpur University, Rangapara College, Balipara College, local Panchayati Raj members, and community leaders from Doimara, Kamengbari, and Rupa joined to promote regional biodiversity conservation.
