Earth Sets New Record for Shortest Day on June 29
Guwahati: Earth have experienced its shortest day ever on June 29, 2022 according to information from the International Earth Rotation and Reference Systems Service (IERS).
On that day, the earth spun once in 1.59 milliseconds or roughly once every 24 hours.
Since 2020, there have been a number of speed records for Earth.
The speed of the Earth has been rising recently. In 2020, the Earth saw its shortest month that has ever been measured, since the 1960s.
The record for the shortest day ever was set on July 14 of that year, with 1.47 milliseconds less than 24 hours.
