ED Summons Arvind Kejriwal for the Fourth Time, Himanta Biswa Sarma Questions Non-Compliance

Guwahati, 13th January: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has issued a fourth summons to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in connection with the excise policy case. Reacting to this, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma expressed skepticism, suggesting that Kejriwal’s repeated non-compliance implies a reluctance to temporarily go but a desire to permanently evade.

This development coincides with the AAP’s announcement of Kejriwal’s visit to Goa for Lok Sabha-related party work between January 18 and 20, seen as a move to counter the ED’s summons.

Kejriwal, in response to previous summons, cited various reasons for non-appearance, including Rajya Sabha elections, Republic Day preparations, and criticism of the ED’s ‘non-disclosure’ and ‘non-response’ approach.

The first ED summons was issued in October last year, followed by subsequent ones on December 18 and January 3. Kejriwal alleged a BJP campaign against him through central investigation agencies to hinder his participation in the 2024 Lok Sabha polls, appealing to the nation and claiming a BJP plot to “dent his honesty.”

In response, the BJP called for Kejriwal’s resignation, asserting that if he refuses to step down, the “corrupt” AAP government in Delhi should be dismissed.
