Eight Meitei Hostages Including Women and Children Killed in Manipur

Imphal: In a tragic development that has sent shockwaves across Manipur, the bodies of eight Meitei hostages, including women and children, were handed over to their grieving families today.

The victims had been abducted following a gunfight between security forces and Kuki militants in Jiribam on November 11.

The deceased were identified as Yurembam Rani Devi (60), Telem Thoibi Debi (31), Laisram Heitombi Devi (25), Telem Thajmanbi Devi (8), Laisram Chingkheiganba Singh (2.5), Laisram Langamba Singh (8 months), Laisram Baren Maitri (60), and Maibam Kesho (7).

The families of the victims had been anxiously awaiting the return of their loved ones, but their hopes were dashed as the news of their gruesome murders emerged. The incident has sparked widespread condemnation and calls for swift justice.

The Manipur government has assured the families that the case will be handed over to the National Investigation Agency (NIA) for a thorough investigation. Chief Minister N Biren Singh has expressed deep sorrow over the tragic loss of lives and has vowed to bring the perpetrators to justice.
