Eight suspected Rohingyas detained in Tripura
Guwahati: At least eight suspected Rohingyas have been detained by the Tripura Police in Sepahijala district.
The detainees include two women and five children.
The detainees identified as Fatema Begum (30), Abdul Hasim (29), Manisha (32), while the children are Ali, Tahidul Islam, Suleiman, Isaak and Mofizul Islam.
According to reports, they were detained while travelling to Bangladesh.
Reportedly, the imprisoned Rohingyas arrived in the state via Guwahati from Delhi.
According to Tripura police, the illegal Rohingya migrants were apprehended during routine vehicle frisking at a check post.
During interrogation, the detainees admitted that they had come from the Rohingya camp in Delhi and were on their way to Bangladesh by ‘illegally crossing the international border.’
