Ekta Kapoor Makes History as First Indian Female Filmmaker to Win Emmy

Entertainment Desk, 21st November: The 51st International Emmy Awards ceremony unfolded in New York City, causing a stir in India as producer Ekta Kapoor clinched an Emmy.

Ekta Kapoor was honored with the International Emmy Directorate Award, acknowledging her significant contributions to the entertainment industry.

Deepak Chopra, a renowned author and trailblazer of the new age, presented her with this prestigious accolade. Ekta Kapoor, in achieving this recognition, etched her name in history as the first Indian female filmmaker to receive such an honor.

Alongside Kapoor’s commendation, Vir Das also secured an International Emmy for Best Comedy with his show Vir Das: Landing.

However, Shefali Shah, known for Delhi Crime S2, did not emerge victorious, as the award went to Mexican actress Karla Souza for her outstanding performance in La Ca­ida (Dive).
