Election Commission Introduces IT Tools for Transparent and Efficient Elections

National Desk, 17th March: The Election Commission of India has unveiled 27 IT applications and systems aimed at enhancing operational efficiency and transparency in the forthcoming Elections 2024. Chief Election Commissioner Rajeev Kumar announced the initiative during a press conference on March 15, coinciding with the release of the complete schedule for the Lok Sabha elections and four assembly elections.

CEC Rajeev Kumar underscored the importance of these IT tools, noting their role in empowering various stakeholders involved in the electoral process. Among the prominent applications highlighted was ‘cVigil,’ enabling citizens to report Model Code of Conduct (MCC) violations, with a commitment to ensuring action within 100 minutes of reporting. Additionally, the ‘KYC app’ was emphasized to facilitate informed voting, while a revamped results portal aims to provide an enhanced experience on results day.

Furthermore, CEC Rajeev Kumar emphasized the Election Commission’s endeavors to foster constructive engagement with political parties. He pointed to the Integrated Election Management System (IEMS) portal as a platform for streamlining processes and highlighted measures taken against defaulting Registered Unrecognized Political Parties (RUPPs).

In a bid to uphold ethical standards throughout the electoral process, the Election Commission called upon all stakeholders to maintain respectful discourse, particularly regarding Persons with Disabilities (PwDs), and strictly prohibited the exploitation of children in political campaigning.

The Election Commission reiterated its commitment to fair elections by announcing the discontinuation of the distribution of freebies such as liquor, gas, sarees, among others.
