Election Commission Lifts Suspension of Telangana DGP Anjani Kumar After Meeting With Congress Leader

National Desk, 12th December: The Election Commission of India (ECI) has revoked the suspension of Telangana’s Director General of Police (DGP) Anjani Kumar.

He had faced disciplinary action for meeting Congress leader and current Chief Minister, Revanth Reddy, on December 3. Anjani Kumar, along with state police nodal officer Sanjay Jain and nodal (expenditure) officer Mahesh Bhagwat, was suspended after they presented a bouquet to Revanth Reddy during the vote counting phase of the assembly polls.

The suspension was based on concerns that such meetings could compromise the impartiality of the electoral process, violating the model code of conduct (MCC). The Election Commission emphasized the negative impact such actions could have on junior officers.

The recent decision to lift the suspension suggests that Anjani Kumar will resume duties as Telangana’s Director General of Police.
