Election Commission likely to announce poll dates for 5 states between Oct 8-10
National Desk, 9th October: The Election Commission (EC) is poised to unveil the election schedules for Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Telangana, and Mizoram between the 8th and 10th of October, as per sources.
According to sources, the polling will occur from the second week of November to the first week of December. Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Mizoram, and Telangana will witness a single-phase election, whereas Chhattisgarh is likely to undergo a two-phase voting process.
At present, the political landscape is as follows: Madhya Pradesh is governed by the Bharatiya Janata Party, Rajasthan is under the Congress party’s rule, Chhattisgarh is also governed by the Congress party, Telangana is led by the Bharat Rashtra Samithi, and Mizoram is under the governance of the Mizo National Front, which is an ally of the BJP.
On the 5th of October, the EC convened a meeting to finalize strategies aimed at ensuring the smooth execution of the elections. Their primary goals include effectively implementing the model code and preventing any disruptions caused by monetary or muscle power. The EC has diligently reviewed the election readiness in Rajasthan, Mizoram, Madhya Pradesh, and Chhattisgarh and is expected to conclude its assessment of Telangana on Thursday.
