Election Commission Orders AAP to Revise Campaign Song Over Alleged Violation of Advertising Codes

National Desk, 28th April: Following concerns raised by the Election Commission of India (ECI), the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has been directed to modify its election campaign song to align with the Advertising Codes outlined in the Cable Television Network Rules, 1994, and ECI guidelines.

In a formal directive, the ECI instructed AAP to amend their campaign song and submit the revised version for certification.

Of particular concern to the ECI is the phrase “jail ke jawaab me hum vote denge” (We will vote in response to jail), accompanied by visuals depicting an assertive crowd holding a picture of Arvind Kejriwal behind bars.

The ECI has argued that this phrase undermines the integrity of the judiciary and is repeated multiple times in the advertisement, violating the provisions of ECI Guidelines and Rule 6(1)(g) of Programme and Advertising Codes prescribed under the Cable Television Network Rules, 1994.
