Elections For Congress President To Take Place On October 17

Guwahati: The Congress Working Committee (CWC) met on Sunday and determined that the election for the position of Congress party president would take place on October 17, with the results being announced on October 19.

According to national media, today’s CWC meeting is being held to go through the final timetable for the election of the Congress president.

Virtual attendees included Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, the party’s general secretary. Dr. Manmohan Singh, a former prime minister, participated in the meeting remotely as well.

Ghulam Nabi Azad, a pillar of the Congress party, resigned from the party’s core membership on Friday.

Rahul Gandhi’s refusal to run for office has reportedly made it difficult for Congress to win the party presidency.

According to reports, the Central Election Authority has taken steps to ensure that the election process is completed on schedule.

Rahul Gandhi is apparently unwilling to run in the polls for the top Congress position, despite efforts to persuade him, which is another reason why the process is stopped.

The grand old party, which will be led by Rahul Gandhi, also intends to launch the “Bharat Jodo Yatra” on September 7 from Kanyakumari. In Kashmir, a 148-day march is planned.

The Yatra will include padayatras, rallies and public meetings attended by senior leaders of the party including Sonia Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra.
