Elephant Rescued After Night-Long Ordeal in Assam
Golaghar, Assam: A dramatic rescue operation unfolded overnight in the No. 2 Balijan Kathonibasti area of Morangi, Golaghar district, after a wild elephant fell into a deep pit.
The incident occurred on Friday night when a herd of elephants ventured into the area. As the herd foraged, one unfortunate pachyderm slipped and tumbled into the concealed pit. Its distressed cries echoed through the night, alerting locals to the perilous situation.
Forest department officials were immediately alerted and swiftly mobilized a rescue team. Armed with specialized equipment and a JCB machine, the team worked tirelessly through the night to extract the trapped elephant.
The delicate operation required careful planning and execution to ensure the safety of both the animal and the rescue team. After several hours of concerted effort, the elephant was finally freed and safely returned to its herd.
The successful rescue operation has been hailed as a testament to the dedication and expertise of the forest department officials. Local residents, who had gathered to witness the rescue efforts, expressed their gratitude for the timely intervention.
