Elephant Tramples Minor to Death in Assam’s Goalpara
Guwahati: A 16-year-old minor boy was trampled to death by an elephant in Goalpara district of Assam in the wee hours on Thursday.
The incident took place at Kursapakhri village in Lakhipura area of the district.
The victim was identified as Janak Koch.
According to reports, up to 40 wild elephants entered the village and began vandalising homes and property.
During the ordeal, the minor was brutally trampled to death.
It should be noted that wild elephants have been causing havoc in and around Lakhipur for quite some time.
However, the forest department officials have been unable to keep elephants out of residential areas.
It is suspected that the wild elephant is thought to have wandered into the village in search of food, as the constant rains have severely impacted their food supply.
