BASAR: In a significant move to bolster rural livelihoods, the Arunachal State Rural Livelihood Mission (ArSRLM), BMMU-Basar, in partnership with Moneywise CFL, successfully hosted a comprehensive one-day training on vermicompost production and a financial literacy camp.
The initiative, held at Basar, was designed to equip local Self-Help Groups (SHGs) with essential skills in sustainable farming and financial management.
The programme, facilitated by Moneywise CFL’s Field Coordinator Kenpi Chiram, brought together key experts and participants. Moyirr Karlo, BCLH-Farm, BMMU Basar, underscored the importance of vermicompost in enhancing soil health and crop yields, advocating for a blend of traditional wisdom with contemporary agricultural practices.

As the session’s resource person, he provided a detailed walkthrough of vermicompost production, explaining the role of earthworms, the creation of vermi wash, and effective organic management. Further enriching the session, Marter Chiram, Centre Manager at CFL Basar, shed light on various government schemes, including ANKY, DDUSY, Atma Nirbhar, and the Deen Dayal Upadhyay Swavalamban Yojana. He explained how these schemes could provide crucial financial lifelines for rural entrepreneurs looking to scale up their ventures. The training culminated in a live demonstration of vermicompost production by Riba, providing the 40 Mahila Kisan participants with hands-on experience and a deeper understanding. The initiative is a testament to the commitment to fostering sustainable income opportunities and promoting eco-friendly farming practices among the SHGs of the Basar block.
