Eviction Drive in Bhalukpung Clears Illegal Constructions on Assam-Arunachal Border

Guwahati, 8th September: In a decisive operation, the Sonitpur district administration launched an eviction drive at Bhalukpung, located on the Assam-Arunachal Pradesh border, to remove unauthorized structures along the river near Bhalukpung market. The drive, led by officials from the Chariduar Revenue Circle, utilized JCB machines to demolish two-storied buildings that had been erected without proper permissions.

Despite multiple warnings from the district authorities, the illegal constructions remained in place, prompting the administration to take action after complaints from local residents. Concerns had been raised over the increasing river water levels, which posed a risk to the unauthorized buildings and the surrounding community.

The operation was carried out to mitigate potential harm to people and property, with the district authorities reiterating their commitment to preventing future illegal encroachments along the riverbank. The administration emphasized that stricter monitoring would be enforced to ensure the safety of the region’s residents and uphold construction regulations in the area.
