Ex-Gratia for Victims of Jodhpur Cylinder Blast, CM Ashok Gehlot
Guwahati: Ashok Gehlot, the chief minister of Rajasthan, expressed his condolences on Friday for the deaths caused by a gas cylinder explosion that started a fire in a village in the state’s Jodhpur region.
The event happened on Thursday night at a residence in the Bhungra village of the Shergarh sub-division where guests had assembled for a wedding. According to District Collector Himanshu Gupta, a cylinder explosion inside the home set the property on fire. In the Bhungra village, under the jurisdiction of the Jodhpur Shergarh Police Station, four people—two of them children—were killed and more than 60 wedding party guests suffered burn wounds.
“Some children have sustained burn injuries. There have been deaths. Our efforts are underway to save the lives of as many people as we can. We’ll strive so that such incidents don’t occur in future. Compensation will be given as per rules,” Gehlot said.
Additionally, he declared that the CM Relief Fund would provide Rs 2 lakh to the families of the deceased and Rs 1 lakh to the injured. In addition, he declared that the Chiranjeevi Insurance Scheme would provide the families of the deceased with help in the amount of Rs. 5 lakh.
The CM said he had spoken to the gas firms and pleaded with them to assist the victims while also expressing his sorrow over the situation. He claimed that he also emphasised the need for businesses to take care of household gas cylinders.
Gas agencies in all districts have to follow instructions from district collectors not to be careless with regard to the security of cylinders.
“This is a heart wrenching situation. Many have suffered up to 90 per cent burns. All efforts are being made to save them,” Gehlot said
