Ex-JNU student Sharjeel Imam Granted Bail in Inflammatory Speech Case

Guwahati: A Delhi court on Friday granted bail to JNU student Sharjeel Imam in a case involving speeches he is alleged to have given at the Jamia Milia Islamia University, the Aligarh Muslim University, Gaya, and Asansol.

He was accused of making incendiary speeches against the government (NRC) while opposing the Citizenship (Amendment) Act and the National Register of Citizens in these locations.

The court granted bail in exchange for Imam posting an Rs 30,000 personal bond.

Sharjeel Imam is not yet a free man after being granted bail in the case because there are still open cases against him.
