National Desk, 7 May: An explosion occurred on Saturday night in the heritage street in the vicinity of the Golden Temple in Punjab’s Amritsar.
As many as several people were injured in the blast which led people to fear a terrorist assault.
According to the authorities, the explosion may have been an accident rather than a terrorist attack.
A forensics team arrived at the scene after the explosion and found some powder close to a window whose glass was discovered to be cracked.
The Amritsar police commissioner Naunihal Singh stated that it was still too early to draw any conclusions about the explosion.
The Police Commissioner on his official twitter handle said, “A news related to blasts in Amritsar is going viral on social media, the situation is under control. Investigation is on to establish the facts of the incident and there is no need to panic. Urge citizens to maintain peace & harmony, advise all to fact check before sharing.”
