Explosives Cache Neutralized Along Manipur-Myanmar Border

Guwahati: In a significant operation, a joint team of Indian paramilitary and state police detected and neutralized a cache of explosives planted by armed miscreants along the Indo-Myanmar border in Manipur’s Tengnoupal district.

The operation, conducted on Tuesday, was part of a search and area domination exercise in vulnerable areas of the hill and valley districts. The team, comprising experts from the Bomb Detection and Disposal squad, Assam Rifles, and Manipur police, acted on intelligence inputs to rush to H Mongjang village under the Moreh police station.

The explosives recovered included a 10-foot-long pompi (84mm), a pompi improvised mortar (51mm), three pompi bombs, and three Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) weighing approximately 5.5 kg each. All the devices were destroyed in situ, averting a potential major disaster in the district.

This operation is particularly significant given the recent history of ethnic clashes in Tengnoupal district, which have claimed over 260 lives in the state since 2023. The successful neutralization of the explosives cache is a testament to the effectiveness of the joint operations and intelligence gathering by the security forces.
