Fake Call Centre Busted in Haryana’s Gurgaon, 9 Including 3 From Manipur Arrested

Guwahati: A fake call centre has been busted by police in Gurgaon of Haryana on Wednesday.

The call centre is accused of using bitcoin to defraud US citizens under the guise of giving them federal grants.

The call centre agents conned the US citizens by purporting to provide them federal grants worth between USD 9,000 and 34,000.

On Tuesday night, a joint team from the Gurugram Police and the CM Flying Squad carried out a raid and apprehended nine people, three of them were natives of the northeastern state of Manipur, they claimed.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Thomsang, Chokhauni, Magoi Ganglui, residents of Manipur, Abhisawan Sabarwal, Eklavya, and Vishal Vishwakarma, residents of UP, and Satyendra alias Sam and Ankis Sachdeva, residents of Delhi.

Additionally, the accused had Rs 1.5 lakh in cash, four laptops, and three PCs seized by the police.

The operatives of the fake call centre used to call US citizens offering a grant on behalf of Federal Grant Washington DC.
