Fake Currency rachet busted in Nagaon, 1 held

Guwahati: Nagaon Police busted a fake currency racket and arrested one person in the connection.

The arrestee was identified as Atikur Rahman and he is a resident of Lakhimpur.

Following a tip off from sources the police officials launched a search operation in Haibargaon village on Friday night and seized one machine used for making Indian fake currency notes along with bundles of fake Rs 500 notes from his possession.

The police informed that there were several people in the racket. However, when the police reach the place few of them ran away from the spot. They further said the accused were from Lakhimpur district and residing in a rented house near the Christ Jyoti School of Nagaon.

It may be mention that the operation was led by Nagaon police in-charge Police Officer Manoj Rajbonshi, TSI Achyut Phukan and Nagaon Haibargaon police station officer-in-charge Tarang Patwari.
