Guwahati, 17th August: Assam Police has taken swift action against the spread of misinformation on social media by apprehending two fraudsters who posed as journalists. The suspects, Muhim Uddin and Eyadul Hussain from Pangram in Udarbond, were found to have opened a Facebook page and disseminated numerous fake news stories while impersonating journalists.
Upon discovering the deceptive activities, Cachar Police initiated an investigation and succeeded in apprehending the individuals behind the fake journalist accounts. On Wednesday night they are arrested.
The incident highlights the growing concern over the spread of misinformation and fake news on social media platforms. Authorities are actively working to curb such practices that can lead to confusion and distrust among the public.
